Abstract

In this technological era, it is difficult for teachers to engage students’ attention with just non-digital tools such as blackboards and textbooks. Being born as digital natives, many learners will be glued to their smartphones and tablets once they lose interest in the lessons. As the saying goes, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them’, teachers should incorporate digital gadgets into the teaching and learning process to pique students’ interest. This research focuses on the use of iPad in TESOL classes. The results show that iPad can be a replacement for CD players, boards and handouts, and its applications such as Socrative, PhotoCard and ComicStrip motivate learners to involve themselves more in the lessons.
