Abstract

The 4th Industry Revolution in general and the huge development of the information and communication technology (ICT) in particular has taken an important role in teaching and learning English. It has brought not only great opportunities but also challenges for teaching English pronunciation to Vietnamese college students. Dubbing VOA news could be considered as a student-centered technique which enhances learner autonomy and English pronunciation of college students. Besides, Edmodo seems to help creating a flexible classroom that is suitable for the contemporary social life. This presentation will share some practical experiences on how to use dubbing VOA news to engage college students to practice pronunciation themselves and Edmodo to control their learning autonomy, increase teacher-student interaction as well as give comments to each student on their pronunciation. The presentation also introduces a pronunciation assessment scheme to evaluate students’ performance and show the progress of their pronunciation which could be the motivation for them to maintain lifelong pronunciation practice.
