Vocabulary knowledge has played a crucial role in developing language learners’ competency regarding the four language skills. In-depth research on vocabulary learning strategies (henceforth VLS) has shed light on various dimensions affecting learners’ learning outcomes. Different well-researched vocabulary dimensions in VLS may include metacognitive, cognitive and social strategies.  This study investigates the use of VLS by a group of adult learners in an EAP program and the effects of these techniques on their productive vocabulary use. Learners’ perceptions and their use of various VLSs seem to play a significant role in determining the use of productive vocabulary knowledge of the participants as from their perspectives. From the findings, the paper then suggests some pedagogical implications for the effectiveness of learners’ productive vocabulary use.
