Facebook is currently rather popular among the Social Network Sites (SNSs) in Southeast Asia, so Facebook is the best choice for the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education. By establishing a ‘Closed’ Facebook group to create an online community, teachers of English can conduct online learning courses as well as share their own writings and teaching materials for their professional development. There are now many groups on Facebook for professional development, but most of the active members are lecturers from tertiary institutions. Many teachers of English also have their Facebook accounts but it seems that they just use Facebook for entertainment and social communication, they have not taken advantages of it as a tool for educational purposes. To address this issue, this one –hour workshop will focus on creating a “closed group” among the participants in the workshop, then the facilitator will share some tips as well as her experience in using closed groups on Facebook in different teaching contexts.
