Using English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) has been a tendency nowadays at tertiary level both in ESL and EFL classrooms. This paper aims to investigate the perceptions of lecturers about the possibility  of using English as a Medium of Instruction at tertiary level in EFL context. Instruments of the study include the questionnaire and interview, which aim to collect both quantitative and qualitative data for the study. The survey questionnaire is used to collect responses to and perceived practice of EMI at the participants’ university. A follow-up interview is conducted to gain in-depth ideas of the lecturers so as to qualify the results found in the questionnaires. The participants consist of 50 lecturers at two tertiary institutions at Hue University. One result reveals that the lecturers positively support the use of EMI at universities in Vietnam. In terms of challenges of EMI implementation, the most common challenge was the level of English proficiency of students as well as lecturers. Results concerning other variables such as natural/social sciences versus priority subjects/units for EMI, gender and work experiences of the participants on ways of using EMI are also presented. Implications for implementing EMI at tertiary level are suggested at the end of the paper.
