Technology-enabled teaching and learning applications are developed by Information Technology professionals often with little input from users. Modern educators are expected to be able to use technology to teach according to students’ needs.

In this 60-minute workshop, the attendees are provided with Vietnamese students’ profiles and they are asked to think of suitable requirements for a linguistic educational technology that meet the students’ needs given their local conditions.

The workshop presentation consists of introduction, self-reflection (attendees think of themselves and how they teach and learn English language), reflection on needs of the student and required features for the technology-enabled teaching and learning application that the attendees can use.

Audience: The target audience for the workshop is educators who are interested in using technology such as Facebook, Moodle, software programs to teach adults or students in higher education institutions.

Data collection: Data is collected from attendees using surveys and activities during the workshop.

Objective of the study: The workshop is designed to bring awareness about the technological needs of educators, teachers and students: how to tailor a given learning and teaching application according to the attendees’ needs.

Significance of the study: Data collected from the workshop will be anonymised and published in papers and presented at conferences. The resulting publications will bring wider awareness of educators, teachers and Vietnamese students’ requirements to the designers of the learning and teaching applications.

Hence by participating, the attendees understand and give consent that data collected in this workshop are used for research and publications.
