Easy games for busy teachers that help motivate young learners in language classes

Abstract


Attempting to communicate in the target language at the very beginning stage is the desired goal of every foreign language classes, especially in English classes. The question is, however, how to get those young learners, who have little communicative competence and tend to be shy as talking in front of others while being under pressure, talk in class and build up their self-confidence in real communication. It’s teachers’ responsibility to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment for young learners to speak while learning. One of the best ways, the presenter supposes, for young learners to communicate in learning environment is through language learning games. In this workshop, the presenter would like to introduce the most basic and easy game, together with its principles and its varieties, which is fun and easily applicable to any young learning environment. These games, which take little time to prepare, thanks to the applying of technology, but can be apply to a wide variety of language lessons, from vocabulary to listening ones, are for busy teachers who have little time but need motivating activities for their learners.
